Analog Core Module with 10/100Base-T Reference Design Speeds OEM Time-to-Market

Davis, Calif. - Rabbit Semiconductor's newest RCM3400 core module is the first RabbitCore(TM) with analog, and provides a 10/100Base-T reference design. Priced from only $39 (qty. 1000), the RCM3400 RabbitCore is the ideal option for designers who want to supercharge embedded systems development and speed time-to-market. Measuring only 1.37" x 1.16 " x 0.31 " (35 x 29 x 7.4 mm), RabbitCores mount directly on a user-designed motherboard and can interface with all manner of CMOS-compatible digital devices. The RCM3400 also contains built-in low-EMI features, including a clock spectrum spreader, that practically eliminate EMI problems, helping OEMs pass CE and regulatory RF emissions tests.

Powered by the Rabbit 3000 microprocessor, this efficient 8-bit core module operates at a power-saving 3.3 V (with 5 V-tolerant I/O), while running at 29.4 MHz. Two models offer 512K Flash/512K SRAM or 265K Flash/256K SRAM and both are equipped with quadrature decoder, PWM outputs, and pulse capture capabilities. Two 34-pin connection headers provide 47 digital I/O (41 alternate) shared with the 5 serial ports. All RCM3400 models ship with pre-assigned MAC IDs allowing easy networking using the 10/l00Base-T reference design on the development board.

The RCM3400 features a battery-backable real-time clock, glueless memory and I/O interfacing, and low-power "sleepy" modes. A fully enabled slave port permits easy master-slave interfacing between processor-based systems, and an alternate I/O bus can be configured for 8 data lines and 6 address lines (shared with parallel I/O). The Rabbit 3000 processor's compact, C-friendly instruction set and high clock speeds produce fast results for math, logic, and I/O.

Programs are developed with our industry-proven Dynamic C® development system, a C-language environment that includes an editor, compiler, and in-circuit debugger (Dynamic C SE is included in low-cost development kits). User programs can be compiled, executed, and debugged using Dynamic C and a programming cable-no in-circuit emulator is required. An extensive library of drivers and sample programs is provided, along with royalty-free TCP/IP stack with source code.

Priced from $39 (qty. 1000), RCM3400 models are available to ship December 18. A complete RCM3400 Development Kit is priced at $399 and includes prototyping board, AC adapter (U.S./Canada only), serial cable fiber programming and debugging, Getting Started manual, and Dynamic C SE software development system with royalty-free TCP/IP stack and documentation on CD-ROM.
