An Insider's Look at the Making of an American Icon

Arrow Fastener Company's signature T50® staple gun to be featured on DIY Network's "Cool Tools"

SADDLE BROOK, NJ - Millions of consumers worldwide have held an Arrow T50 staple gun in their hands, dutifully relying upon the essential tool since its introduction in 1929. The story of how it attained its status as an American icon, of course, begins at the manufacturing line - where skilled Arrow team members mold raw steel into a dependable, trusted toolbox fixture.

The genesis of the T50 staple gun will be featured on an upcoming episode of the DIY Network show "Cool Tools," it was announced today. Hosted by Chris Grundy, "Cool Tools" is one of the signature programs on the DIY Network, which is available to more than 54 million U.S. cable households.

The segment featuring the Arrow T50 staple gun will appear on the "Cool Tools" broadcast to air at 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov. 24) with a repeat airing at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. It will chronicle the fabrication of the T50 staple gun from beginning to end, and feature a history of the iconic tool - from the very first T50 staple gun to the new T50 R.E.D.(TM) staple gun (short for reliable, ergonomic, durable) of today -- as well as interviews with Arrow President Gary DuBoff and other Arrow employees.

The T50 staple gun, fabricated entirely of steel and finished with durable chrome, features a coil-spring firing technology; rear-loading staple system for precise control, a visual refill window; and a jam-resistant mechanism, which helps to minimize downtime. It all comes together with an "easy-squeeze system," meaning that the accurate power of the T50 staple gun can be accessed by users of all skill and ability levels.

"For more than 84 years, consumers have completed countless projects with a T50 staple gun at their disposal," said Bill Sokol, Vice President, Marketing, for Arrow Fastener Company LLC. "It has been a fascinating journey, and I am sure that viewers of the program will gain a new appreciation for what goes into the development of this truly "cool tool."
