Amplifier suits automotive entry/tire pressure monitoring.

Press Release Summary:

Operating in 315 and 433 MHz bands, MAX2634 is designed for remote keyless entry and tire pressure monitoring applications. It consumes 2.5 mA of supply current and eshibits 1.25 dB noise. Logic-enabled shutdown reduces supply current to under 1 µA. Contained in 2.0 x 2.2 mm, 6-pin SC70 package, amplifier operates from 2.2-5.5 V supply and is specified over -40 to +125°C temperature range. MAX2634 is fully qualified to meet certification requirements of AEC-Q100 standard.

Compact LNA for Automotive RKE and TPM Systems Provides Optimum Performance and Current Consumption

LNA for RKE or tire pressure monitoring draws a mere 2.5mA of current.

SUNNYVALE, CA - July 23, 2009 - Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) announces the MAX2634, a low-noise amplifier (LNA) optimized for remote keyless entry (RKE) and tire pressure monitoring (TPM) applications operating in the 315MHz and 433MHz bands. Designed using the Company's SiGe BiCMOS process, this fully integrated LNA improves receiver sensitivity with an ultra-low, 1.25dB noise figure, while consuming a mere 2.5mA (typ) of supply current. The MAX2634 provides superior performance and current consumption in a smaller footprint than both discrete designs and highly integrated CMOS solutions.

The MAX2634 features a logic-enabled shutdown mode that reduces supply current to less than 1µA, thus eliminating the two discrete transistors typically required to implement a shutdown function. Furthermore, this LNA removes the need for external DC-blocking capacitors, enabling a very small solution footprint for today's continually shrinking key-fob designs.

Additionally, the MAX2634 is fully qualified to meet the certification requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard. Customers can design-in the MAX2634 with full confidence that it will withstand the demanding external conditions experienced by automotive designs in the real world.

The MAX2634 operates from a 2.2V to 5.5V supply. Fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range, it is available in an ultra-small, 2.0mm x 2.2mm, 6-pin SC70 package. Prices start at $0.50 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available for bench-level evaluation and is priced at $50.00 (each, FOB USA).
