AMETEK AMERON Expands its Fire Extinguisher Repair Capability with The Development of a New PMA Fire Suppression Agent

Baldwin Park, CA (Oct. 2, 2020) – AMETEK AMERON recently achieved PMA approval on the Fire Extinguisher Fluid P/N M3923. The fluid is a replacement article for OEM Extinguisher Fluid P/N 213923, which is installed in the OEM handheld Fire Extinguisher P/N 892480 and is designed for use by the cabin flight crew. The handheld fire extinguisher is stored in the flight crew’s overhead luggage compartment as well as mounted on class dividers in the passenger cabin.

The handheld fire extinguisher is comprised of a cylinder, a valve assembly, a cartridge holder, a nozzle, and a lever assembly. The body of the valve assembly contains the components that control the release of the extinguisher agent. The fire extinguisher uses a solution of potassium acetate, ethylene-glycol, and water as the extinguishing agent.

AMETEK AMERON recommends part number M3923 to be replaced whenever the 892480 is overhauled or the agent is removed from the bottle. AMERON recommends performing an overhaul every five years.
