Ambrell Sells EKOHEAT for Fastener Hot Heading
Client preheats fasteners for forging; wants to reduce production time with a modern induction heating system
Scottsville, NY - Ambrell, a leading manufacturer of induction heating systems, has sold an EKOHEAT 35 kW/30 kHz induction heating system to a fastener manufacturer. The client will use the EKOHEAT to preheat blanks prior to forging to create fasteners. The system will be used on an array of materials including steel, Inconel, titanium, Waspalloy and more. The outside diameter of the blanks that will be run on the EKOHEAT range from 0.5”- 1.5” (13-38 mm).
The solution includes a custom-built coil, along with an optical pyrometer and controller for quality control in the manufacturing process. The client was using induction systems from a different manufacturer, but determined a new modern system with process feedback from Ambrell’s Application Lab will allow them to reduce heating times and increase their production rate.
