WASHINGTON - AM General, a global leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of specialized vehicles for military and commercial customers, will display its innovative vehicle solutions at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Defense Exhibition, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C., Oct. 13-15, Booth 7415/ Upper Level/ Hall D.

This year, AM General is pleased to highlight several offerings from its renowned Family of Light Tactical Vehicles, training operations and commercial vehicle product line.  Company executives will also be made available to media representatives.  Systems on display include:

The Blast Resistant Vehicle - Off road (BRV-O) Joint Light Tactical Vehicle: AM General will proudly exhibit its proven Blast Resistant Vehicle - Off road (BRV-O(TM)) Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) candidate that epitomizes Reliability, Survivability, Transportability and Affordability. Since announcing delivery of 22 BRV-Os ahead of schedule for the Engineering, Manufacturing and Development (EMD) Phase of the JLTV program 14 months ago, the vehicles have been engaged in both severe, off-road testing and extensive survivability challenges by the U.S. Government. Vehicles are now demonstrating their capabilities in U.S. Government Limited User Testing (LUT). AM General has successfully completed and/or exceeded every milestone to date throughout the JLTV program's EMD phase, including the production readiness review, manufacturing readiness assessment and design understanding review. BRV-O reflects more than a decade of AM General investment in research, development and testing for this innovative, next-generation vehicle and is the latest offering in AM General's five decade history of designing, producing and supporting light tactical vehicles for the U.S. military.  AM General has built more light tactical vehicles for the military than any other manufacturer on its dedicated Light Tactical Vehicle production line in Mishawaka, Ind.

National Guard HMMWV Modernization Program: This first of its kind public-private partnership between the National Guard Bureau, AM General, and Red River Army Depot, provides upgraded and enhanced capability HMMWVs for National Guard units nationwide. Developed to address the rapidly aging National Guard HMMWV fleet, the like-new vehicles have upgraded engines, improved suspension systems, and state-of-the-art transmissions. Other enhancements include 13 additional gallons of fuel capacity, built-in redundancy between main vehicle brakes and the parking brake, a fan belt drive with a geared drive for the most rugged off-road scenarios and high output air conditioning. These improvements give our National Guard soldiers the durability, reliability and modern systems they demand for both enhanced training as well as effectively responding to their ever-growing homeland mission.

On/Off road Light Tactical Vehicle Simulator:  The AM General AUSA booth will feature a 180 degree, three-channel plasma screen, On/Off road Light Tactical Vehicle Simulator.  Users will experience an immersive driving environment that combines the look and feel of a real Light Tactical Vehicle traveling through a variety of tactical military missions and adverse weather conditions.  The driving scenarios used in this highly interactive simulator are currently being used to train U.S. and international customers at the AM General Light Tactical Vehicle Training Center, located in South Bend, Indiana.  This one-of-a-kind facility features a 320-acre off-road training course, classrooms for instruction, hands-on technical training bays, and driving simulators.

Mobility Ventures MV-1  - Revolutionary Universally Accessible Vehicle: Mobility Ventures, an AM General company, is setting a new standard with its MV-1 line of vehicles. Unlike traditional paratransit vehicles that are converted for wheelchair accessibility, the MV-1 is the only vehicle that is "purpose-built" from the ground up for people with disabilities. The MV-1 has an Americans with Disability Act compliant side-entry powered ramp and space for a wheelchair passenger to sit in the front passenger-side of the vehicle, with additional room in back for another wheelchair and extra passengers. The MV-1 provides "Best in Class" safety direct from the factory and meets all applicable safety standards in the U.S. and Canada for crash-worthiness test as required by both the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) without exceptions or exemptions. MV-1s are proudly built at AM General's world-class, 675,000 square-foot Commercial Assembly Plant in Mishawaka, Ind. MV-1 is dedicated to transporting all passengers, with or without mobility challenges with dignity, making it the perfect solution for the commercial fleet, taxi/livery, government and consumer markets.
