Stanley Vidmar Introduces Aluminum Drawers
Lightweight, rugged new drawers are designed for mobile applications
Stanley Vidmar has rolled out a new line of modular aluminum drawers, the first the company has offered. The Stanley® Vidmar® Aluminum Drawer will earn its keep in mobile applications - from racing trailers, to mobile service vans, to cargo aircraft, to ships -- where excess weight is a factor, and where making storage cabinets lighter can help conserve fuel and reduce associated costs.
The new drawer combines an aluminum body with steel bearing surfaces. This helps make it lightweight yet rugged. It weighs 30 percent less than a Vidmar steel drawer of the same size -- as much as 11 lbs. (5 kg) per drawer -- yet will hold up to 200 lbs. (91 kg) of tools and supplies. It comes in the same sizes, accepts the same organizational systems, and fits into the same standard cabinet housings as Vidmar's steel drawers. "We're giving our customers all the features and benefits they have come to expect from our drawers, but in lightweight aluminum rather than steel," says Stanley Vidmar product manager Chris Helmstetter.
Customers can choose from the following options:
-A variety of sizes. The drawers come in sizes made to fit standard and small version Vidmar cabinet housings. Fifteen usable drawer heights are available.
-All Vidmar drawer organizers. The Aluminum Drawer can be shipped with the same factory installed partitions and dividers used in other Vidmar drawers. The partitions are available in aluminum or steel. The drawers will also accept the same plastic bins, quarter, trays hanging file folders, and other accessories used in steel drawers.
-Mobile security. The drawers can be fitted with mobile latches that lock them in place when open or closed.
-A range of colors. Customers can choose from all standard Stanley® Vidmar® colors.
The new drawers meet Grade B Shock Criteria of Mil-S-901D.
