Altair Engineering and Scali Announce Integrated Solution for Optimizing HPC Environments

Combined bundle links workload management with infrastructure management

TROY, Mich., Sept. 12 /-- Altair Engineering, Inc., a leading global provider of technology and services that strengthen client innovation and decision-making, and Scali, Inc., the leader in infrastructure solutions for HPC environments, today announced an integrated solution of Altair's PBS Professional and Scali Manage. This unique solution provides systems administrators with an integrated suite to link the management and monitoring of their Linux systems with their computational workloads.

"The integration of Scali Manage and PBS Professional enables users to manage their hardware in the context of the actual applications running on it," said Micah Waldman, vice president of Scali Marketing and Product Management. "It also provides a single interface for optimizing and troubleshooting the entire HPC environment, from the job and application level down to the operating system, server and inter-connect level."

Scali Manage provides the most complete, integrated and flexible cluster management and monitoring system commercially available. It includes comprehensive tools for system installation, configuration, management and monitoring, as well as support for the industry's leading cluster inter- connects and platforms. The result is a fully integrated and proven computing environment that reduces costs and increases efficiencies, as well as improves price-performance ratios associated with building and running clusters for high-performance computing (HPC).

"PBS Professional's interoperable, open architecture was specifically designed to meet the challenges of large-scale HPC environments," said Michael Humphrey, vice president of Altair's GridWorks business unit. "Integrating PBS Professional with Scali Manage reduces total cost of ownership by improving productivity of systems administrators. They now have an integrated suite of products to manage and monitor their Linux systems and workloads as well."

PBS Professional is an open workload management solution for high- performance computing environments. The software maximizes the utilization of computing resources by intelligently scheduling and managing computational workload in a number of industries. By increasing the efficiency of the hardware and software resources, PBS Professional reduces total cost of ownership and provides true business value to grid computing customers.
