Almatec® to Display BIOCOR, E-Series Pumps at INTERPHEX 2011

Kamp-Lintfort, Germany- Almatec®, a premier manufacturer of sanitary air-operated diaphragm pumps and part of Dover Corporation's Pump Solutions Group (PSG(TM)), has announced that it will showcase its BIOCOR and the E-Series pumps in Booth #3173 at INTERPHEX 2011. The INTERPHEX show, which brings together a wide variety of leaders from the pharmaceutical industry, will be held from March 29-31, 2011, in New York, NY.

The BIOCOR diaphragm pumps are ideal for applications with the highest purity, containment and cleanability requirements. Built to emulate and be placed in the same applications as diaphragm valves, the BIOCOR pumps are able to assure sterility and handle products containing protein solutions, cellular structures, and other shear-sensitive products. With no mechanical seals, rotors, or stators, the BIOCOR offers free passage for thorough cleaning and sterilization. Diaphragm pumps are ideal for applications that require negative suction lift, self priming and dead head capability. The fluid contact materials are only low ferrite <1% 316L Basel Norm stainless steel that is polished to R.A. of 15µ-inch and USP class VI PTFE. These pumps meet the material compatibility requirements of FDA and the 3A and EHEDG certifications for hygienic design and cleanability.

Almatec will also introduce its solid block PTFE E-Series diaphragm pumps. The E-Series pumps are specifically designed for not only permanent applications, but also for single-use applications handling critical and even hazardous biopharmaceutical substances. The E-Series pumps are designed for use in advanced applications where high chemical compatibility and full containment/leak free design are required (no mechanical seals). Yet, the simplicity of design and operation makes the E-Series safe and economical for even single-use applications without compromising the highest standards. As these pumps are powered by compressed air that can be plumbed in and out of the clean environment, the driving motor is actually the air compressor that is outside the clean area. This essentially removes motors, bearings, gear cases, motor windings, fans, oil, paint and grease that are associated with typical pumps that are placed in the process environment. Therefore, the E-Series serves both applications in which the process will maintain purity over time, and those that cleaning would be too difficult to assure or hazardous, and thus require the replacement with new equipment.
