Allscripts ePrescribe 17.1 Receives ONC-ACB Certification by Drummond Group

Organization certifies Allscripts solution for Electronic Health Record (EHR) Modular in Ambulatory setting to meet Meaningful Use

CHICAGO — Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) ePrescribe 17.1 has been tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB) program in accordance with Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services criteria.

ePrescribe is one of the most widely used electronic prescribing applications in the U.S and is a preferred platform even for providers who do not use an Allscripts electronic health record (EHR) solution. Use of ePrescribe can help improve the efficiency of the prescription process and provides tools to assist with medication compliance through patient adherence and patient assistance program capabilities. Importantly, ePrescribe provides tools to help providers improve patient safety through automatic drug interaction checking and dosage, adverse reaction, and duplicate therapy checks.

"As one of the nation's largest electronic prescriptions providers, ePrescribe is a key and fundamental part of Allscripts comprehensive solutions offering," said Paul M. Black, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "Drummond's certification underscores the trust that nearly 100,000 physicians and prescribers across the country put in Allscripts ePrescribe to deliver critical patient prescription information."

ePrescribe is one of the first prescription applications to be certified for controlled substances electronic prescribing. It is a top-level certified electronic prescription application based on Surescripts certification standards, with few other applications achieving such certification.

Allscripts ePrescribe meets Drummond Group's requirements for Modular EHR Ambulatory certification. Drummond Group's ONC-ACB certification program certifies which EHRs meet the technical standards necessary for eligible provider or hospital to achieve meaningful use. Healthcare providers using certified EHR systems are qualified to receive federal stimulus money if they demonstrate meaningful use of that certified EHR system. Meaningful use of technology is part of the federal government's push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by United States healthcare providers.

"This EHR Module is 2014 Edition compliant and has been certified by an ONC?ACB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments. Drummond Group is accredited by ANSI and approved by ONC for the ONC HIT Certification Program to certify: Complete EHR, EHR Module (all), and Certification of other types of HIT for which the Secretary has adopted certification criteria under Subpart C of 45 CFR."
