Alliance Systems Announces New Xpand PCI Expansion Systems

Plano, Texas - November 8, 2006 - Alliance Systems, Ltd. announces its new Xpand PCI Expansion Systems to extend a server's PCI bus to support solutions that require a high number of PCI/PCI-X expansion cards. Many computer manufacturers have reduced the number of PCI expansion slots to keep costs competitive and to move to newer PCI-Express technology. However, the limited expansion capability is often insufficient to meet the needs of applications requiring specialized add-on cards. Applications that require a significant number of PCI cards can expand their system capacity with Alliance's Xpand Expansion Systems.

Alliance's EX-4000 Expansion System supports up to 12 full-length PCI/PCI-X cards and the EX-6000 supports up to 16 PCI/PCI-X cards in a separate rack-mount enclosure that connects to another computer through its PCI-Express card and cable. Supporting AC and DC power options and with Alliance's patent-pending StarLink PCI expansion technology, the Xpand System with the add-on PCI/PCI-X cards, connected to a server, performs as a single integrated system.

Common applications benefiting from Alliance Xpand PCI Expansion Systems include: digital audio, storage (SAN, NAS), medical imaging, video processing, military installations, industrial automation/control, test and measurement, telephony, aerospace, video effects, and video capture.

Using Alliance's Xpand Expansion Systems connected to the host server offer considerable cost savings from server consolidation when building applications that support multiple PCI cards. The benefits include purchasing fewer systems, tailored to meet the expansion needs, saving on power and electrical costs, and optimizing rack space at the same time. Applications can use the Xpand System to add PCI/PCI-X cards to virtual and clustered solutions.

Alliance Systems developed these systems for major telecommunications companies to support telephony, VoIP, SS7, contact centers, and call recording solutions. These systems represent Alliance's third generation I/O expansion technology designs with proven field reliability in mission-critical applications. Alliance Systems' Xpand Expansion Systems have been tested and validated with industry standard telephony cards from AudioCodes, Dialogic, and Aculab, as well as industry leading servers from Intel, HP, IBM, and Dell. The Xpand Expansion System directly transmits environmental alarm signals to the host system for logging and remote monitoring as well as lights-out management. These features provide the added dependability your system needs for high-performance applications.
