Allen-Bradley Overload Relays with DeviceNet Improve Motor and Load Protection

MILWAUKEE, May 25, 2006 - The operational and diagnostic data gained from the new Allen-Bradley Bulletin E1 Plus solid-state overload relay with DeviceNet communication gives customers increased motor and load protection. Warning functions alert engineers to take preventive action when motor performance parameters exceed permissive limits, helping to avoid downtime. The E1 Plus is one of hundreds of Essential Components available from Rockwell Automation.

"Even at the component level, our customers can gain greater access to information from the plant floor," said Jerry Watkins, marketing manager, Rockwell Automation. "Communication via the network allows for constant monitoring of machine performance and access to operational and diagnostic data to help customers reduce downtime."

Data available includes: average motor current, percentage of thermal capacity usage, device status, trip and warning identification, and trip history (a record of the five most recent trips). Both the motor and load are protected with the expanded functions of the E1 Plus, including overload warning, underload warning and jam protection.
Customers also benefit from straightforward installation. The E1 Plus overload relay installs in the same manner as traditional overload relays and requires no additional power source or training. With its electronic design, the E1 Plus overload relay consumes low amounts of energy, which minimizes temperature rise issues inside control cabinets.

As part of the Essential Components offering from Rockwell Automation, the E1 Plus overload relay can be ordered though local Allen-Bradley distributors or from the new Allen Bradley Essential Components product catalog. Customers who request an Essential Components catalog (online at www.rockwellautomation.com/components) can enter to win NASCAR tickets and a VIP experience from Rockwell Automation Racing.
