Madahcom, Inc. Introduces In-Plant and Community Alerting System

For Terrorist Attacks and Industrial and Natural Disasters

CHICAGO, February 23, 2003 - At the National Manufacturing Week in Chicago, MadahCom, Inc., a recognized leader in providing advanced alerting systems for military bases worldwide, introduced its new line of Employee Alerting and Community Warning Systems - WAVES EAS (Wireless Audio Visual Emergency Employee Alerting System). WAVES EAS is an effective alerting system for employees and surrounding communities to help safeguard them against industrial and natural disasters, toxic release accidents, criminal activity, and terrorist attacks.

When activated either manually by a sensor or by a scheduler, WAVES EAS broadcasts live or recorded voice messages, siren tones, and visual alerts via a network of spread spectrum wireless transceivers. Using zones and subzones, employees in immediate danger areas can be alerted quickly and accurately. WAVES EAS can send emergency messages to individual buildings, outdoor areas or the community, using a variety of alerting devices that include loudspeakers, speaker sirens, LED signs, strobe lights and any telephone or pager. Multiple base stations, (command posts) can be used for additional redundancy.

"To help save lives and reduce losses, MadahCom has designed the ultimate alerting system, WAVES EAS," said Dr. Alan Avidan, president of MadahCom, Inc. "WAVES EAS was developed from the ground up to provide comprehensive sound and visual alerting to indoor and outdoor areas, including an acoustically-advanced speaker siren system that can cover up to several miles. Its secure wireless communications infrastructure protects the system in the event of a disaster due to explosion or fire; its modularity and scalability allows for ease of installment and portability."

WAVES EAS is a product of WAVES (Wireless Audio Visual Emergency System) personnel alerting and mass notification system (PAS/INS). Developed using secure and fault-tolerant wireless technology, WAVES is disaster-hardened by design. Secure digital Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology and a redundancy backbone are incorporated to prevent jamming, eavesdropping, and spoofing. In the event of a partial system collapse during a disaster, the WAVES network reconfigures automatically (self healing) in real-time. Along with being survivable, existing security systems, such as in-plant fire protection, intrusion detection (IDS) and chemical and gas detection systems can be integrated with WAVES allowing enhanced alerting capabilities.

WAVES EAS is also supported by MadahCom's portable system, TACWAVES. Ideal for temporary events, TACWAVES is a self-contained, portable alerting system that requires minimal operator set-up and can be rapidly deployed for emergency announcements.

In addition to speaker sirens and indoor and outdoor speakers, another way to broadcast messages with WAVES EAS is through WAVES Alerter, a high-speed notification system that automatically contacts persons by phone, pager, fax and email and delivers incident-specific information or potentially life-saving instruction. It is activated remotely by phone or directly from the desktop. The Alerter contacts an unlimited number of individuals, groups or teams; and delivers pre-recorded or live messages.

WAVES is the only wireless alerting system that meets all J-34 Department of Defense Anti-Terrorism Directorate requirements. It is compliant with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) and United Facilities Criteria (UFC), and is UL Listed. MadahCom recently received its upgrade certification to ISO 9001:2000, representing a quality system that meets the requirements of the International Quality Management Standards.

Alerted to WAVES capabilities following the acts of September 11, 2001, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Smithsonian Institution, Executive Office of the President, and the Statue of Liberty, have chosen WAVES to routinely message and update personnel as well as alert them in case of an emergency. More than 100 military bases have also installed WAVES as a cost-effective solution to meet their alerting needs.

Sarasota, Florida based MadahCom, Inc., winner of the International Communications Industry Association (ICIA) "Manufacturer of the Year Award" and the Discover Magazine Award for Technological Innovation, is an established world leader in Digital Wireless Communications with an extensive background in the development of interference-immune RF Systems for commercial and military use.
