Airtel Implements Oracle® Communications Applications for World-Class Service Delivery

India's Leading Integrated Communications Service Provider Will Leverage Order and Inventory Management Applications to Increase Operational Efficiency

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 22-OCT-2007 05:05 AM Oracle today announced that Airtel, India's leading integrated communications service provider, has implemented Oracle® Communications Order and Service Management and Oracle Communications Inventory Management to streamline business operations and enable superior service delivery. IBM led Airtel's implementation, which further extends the provider's existing usage of these two Oracle Communications applications for Airtel's optical/synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) services. Airtel's implementation will also integrate the Oracle Communications solutions with its existing deployment of Oracle Financials and CRM to help reduce the project's total cost of ownership and deliver state-of-the-art customer service.

"We implemented the Oracle Communications suite of solutions for its flexibility, scalability and rich functionality," said Dr. Jai Menon, director, IT & Innovation, and group chief information officer, Bharti Airtel Ltd. "As Airtel continues to demonstrate dramatic growth in India, the Oracle Communications offering has helped us transform the company into both a cost leader and a premier provider of communication services."

"With an annual growth rate of 100 percent, Airtel is one of the world's fastest growing communications service providers. We are working to help the company reach its aggressive business goals by leveraging our end-to-end product suite," said Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications. "Oracle Communications applications have helped Airtel transform and streamline the delivery of its enterprise Internet Protocol, multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) and optical services."

Oracle Communications Order and Service Management coordinates the many diverse tasks that make up the end-to-end service fulfillment process, including installing equipment in a point of presence, triggering billing once the service is activated in the network and coordinating processes between engineering and operations. Oracle Communications Inventory Management enables tracking of all backbone network equipment ranging from physical equipment to network locations and addresses, and supports end-customer services and network technologies.
