Original Press Release:
Flexible Wrapping and Optimum Protection
New Storopack AIRplus® Wrap film is a space-saving substitute from traditional 3/16” bubble wrapping products
The protective packaging specialist Storopack has added a space-saving substitute from traditional bubble wrapping to its portfolio, with AIRplus® Wrap film. Thanks to its innovative format, AIRplus® Wrap film lends itself especially well to wrapping delicate products: its flexible, diamond-shaped structure allows items to be wrapped tightly. As a result, fragile and delicate products of varying sizes are now better protected from scratches, rubbing, shifting and damage. Another advantage is its on-demand production. The packer creates air cushions when needed right there at the packing station. This gives the packer an edge over pre-inflated bubble wrapping which is delivered in large rolls, takes up a lot of storage space, and has to be continuously transported from truck to shelves to packing station.
AIRplus® Wrap film can be produced on Storopack machine systems AIRplus® Mini and AIRplus® GTI. AIRplus® Wrap film is available in 2 sizes: 16 inches wide x 1,950 feet long (19d wrap film) and 28 inches wide x 1,100 feet long (36d wrap film) perforated every 7 inches. The film is suited for fragile products and items not prepackaged.
Low Process and Storage Costs
“The aim in developing AIRplus® Wrap film was to wrap items more tightly, for greater product protection. We have achieved this thanks to its special diamondshaped structure. The film is also a clever alternative for traders and producers who still rely on large rolls of pre-inflated bubble wrapping products,” says Michael Spicker, AIR product manager at Storopack. “This is because process and storage costs can be reduced by only producing air cushions according to requirements at the packing station.” AIRplus® Wrap film joins the existing portfolio of AIRplus® products, including Void for large air cushions used to fill voids, Cushion with smaller air cushions for blocking and bracing and for cushioning, and Bubble with round air chambers for wrapping items. All of these films can be produced directly at the packing station and can therefore be easily incorporated into any packing process.
