Air Seal increases bearing life.

Press Release Summary:

I-Seal Fail-Safe Air Seal prevents spindle bearing contamination. Unit incorporates I-Beam design that evenly distributes air film around bearing. Seal cannot be damaged due to loss of air pressure, because centrifugal force is used in conjunction with air pressure. Product works at any duty cycle and can be used in high-pressure coolant applications. Air pressure of 5-10 psi continuously purges bearings through radial I-Beam distribution ring.

SKF Precision Technologies, A Division Of SKF USA Inc., Introduces I-Seal(TM) Fail-Safe Air Seal To Increase Bearing Life

Grafton, WI, (April 4, 2003) - SKF Precision Technologies, a division of SKF USA Inc., introduces the I-Seal Fail-Safe Air Seal. The new seal prevents spindle bearing contamination and will increase bearing life for improved uptime and production. Featuring an I-Beam design that evenly distributes an air film around the bearing, the new seal can't be damaged due to unexpected loss of air pressure, because centrifugal force is used in conjunction with air pressure.

The I-Seal Fail-Safe Air Seal works at any duty cycle and can be used in high-pressure coolant applications. Five to 10 psi of air pressure continuously purges the bearings through the radial I-Beam distribution ring.

SKF's I-Seal Fail-Safe Air Seal has been in use for many years in SKF spindle designs and in SKF spindles supplied to machine tool builders and automation companies. I-Seal is also standard on the new line of Wood-Chuk(TM) routing, grinding and milling spindles.

SKF Precision Technologies, a division of SKF USA Inc., is an ISO 9001 and 14001 registered global supplier of high-precision machine components, including slides, spindles and customized modular components. SKF is the world's largest bearing manufacturer.
