Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas Announces the GP2Y1010AU

Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas announces the GP2Y1010AU, an Air Quality Sensor that can detect and distinguish particulate matter (whether smoke or dust) suspended in air, in a range of 0 to 0.6 mg/m³. Ideally suited for air purifiers and air cleaning systems, this device can also be used in a number of industrial applications. For instance, using the GP2Y1010AU in a smoke detection system that triggers an alarm or system shut-down can prevent serious damage to expensive automated equipment, in the event a burning or overheating condition occurs. The GP2Y1010AU is just 46 mm × 30 mm × 17.6 mm, operates on 5.0 V, and has a low current dissipation of less than 20mA. The GP2Y1010AU is available now at $6 in quantities of 2,000.
