Air Products to Highlight Cryogenic Hydrogen Compressor System at 2013 NORA Annual Recycling Conference and Trade Show

Company Celebrates 100th Installation of Low-Cost Hydrogen Supply System

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. – Air Products (NYSE: APD) will celebrate the 100(th) installation of its Cryogenic Hydrogen Compressor (CHC) system at the 2013 NORA Annual Recycling Conference Trade Show in Carlsbad, Calif., from November 13-16. With Air Products' CHC system, industrial producers requiring high-pressure hydrogen for chemical, refinery, and bioenergy manufacturing can reduce operating costs, increase efficiency, and improve onstream time.

Air Products' CHC system is built on proprietary technology that provides operating flexibility for hydrogen flow rates up to 120,000 scfh (standard cubic feet per hour) and up to pressures of 10,000 psig (pounds per square inch gauge). The two-phase flow process design can capture gas formed through normal heat leak vaporization and deploy that gas back into the process, resulting in operating savings. The unique CHC technology is also load-following, which means hydrogen production can fluctuate to closely match changing customer demand requirements. This capability virtually eliminates vent losses, making the Air Products' CHC system more efficient than traditional liquid hydrogen pumps.

Conference attendees are invited to stop by Air Products booth #105 to learn more about the company's CHC system for hydrotreating, as well as nitrogen for blanketing and inerting. Air Products specialists will be available to discuss each customer's process and help determine the optimal supply option to meet their specific hydrogen and nitrogen requirements. With strategically located industrial gas plants throughout the U.S. supported by the largest merchant delivery fleet, Air Products can provide reliable and economical industrial gas supply.
