Air Dispersing Fabric Duct withstands chemical environments.

Press Release Summary:

Intended for HVAC applications in chemically harsh environments, ChemSox(TM) air dispersion system is constructed from recyclable, inert HDPE fabric with PVC-coated webbing. It comes in round, pliable lengths of semi-translucent fabric that use zippers to join sections together; sections come in lengths to 50 ft and diameters from 6-56 in. High-Throw design delivers air throws of up to 75 ft and uniform linear array of orifices for even air distribution.

DuctSox Introduces ChemSox(TM), the HVAC Industry's First Fabric Duct Designed for Air Dispersion in Chemical Environments

ChemSox's HDPE composition outlasts fabric ductwork in chemical environments and is less than half the cost of coated metal ductwork

DuctSox®, Dubuque, Iowa, a leading fabric HVAC duct systems manufacturer, now offers ChemSox(TM) --the HVAC industry's first fabric duct air dispersion system for chemically harsh environments in metal plating, paper/pulp, wastewater treatment, chemical processing, plastics manufacturing, petrochemical, battery manufacturing and other highly corrosive and caustic industries.

ChemSox's recyclable, inert high density polyethylene (HDPE) fabric outlasts conventional polyester-based fabric duct and accessories, which are subject to brittleness and cracking in harsh environments. Additionally, ChemSox is up to 50-percent less expensive than the materials and installation costs of coated metal, aluminum and stainless steel ductwork, which is typically scheduled for permanent replacement cycles in corrosive spaces.

Although it was developed for chemical resistance in environments using substances such as hydrochloric acid, sodium sulfate and isopropanol, ChemSox also resists the corrosiveness of many other chemicals as well. "DuctSox is a custom manufacturer with full range of research & development services," said Kevin Gebke, DuctSox's new product development engineer. "We've researched many fabric materials and the specialized, high endurance threads and PVC-coated webbing of ChemSox HDPE provides an excellent solution for businesses with unique chemical environments."

ChemSox is manufactured in round, pliable lengths of semi-translucent fabric that use zippers to join sections together. Sections are available up to 50 feet in length and in diameters from six to 56 inches. Unlike metal duct/register systems, ChemSox features a High-Throw design that delivers air throws of up to 75 feet and a uniform linear array of orifices that offers a more even air distribution.

It installs 25 to 50-percent faster than conventional ductwork and is 90 percent lighter than metal duct-making it ideal for retrofit situations where plant downtime and roof loads are limited.

ChemSox offers these additional advantages:
  • Suspension systems of anti-corrosive materials such as stainless steel track, cable and hanging clips, aluminum H-track, plastic-coated cable systems;
  • An inlet collar with DuctSox's proprietary DuctBelt, attachment loops and other accessories are also constructed of generally inert materials;
  • Easy retrofit or direct drop-in replacement installation;
  • Improved indoor air quality (IAQ) and increased mechanical equipment efficiencies due to better air dispersion;
  • Easy to disassemble and clean;
  • A one-year limited warranty;
  • Factory engineering and customer support from a world-leading manufacturer of fabric air dispersion systems;
