Coleman Powermate Unveils New Line of Air Compressors with Invector(TM) Technology

AURORA, Ill., June 6, 2002 - Lighter, quieter, less expensive, extended life, maintenance free. Coleman Powermate's new Invector(TM) Technology is almost too good to be true.

The power equipment manufacturer announced today that it is introducing six new air compressor models with this patent-pending technology, giving entry-level air compressor customers a whole new era in selection.

"Until now, do-it-yourselfers were limited to two types of air compressors: direct drive and belt drive. Invector Technology gives savvy shoppers a third dimension of options," said Ginnie
Faller, air compressor product manager at Coleman Powermate.

The new Invector Technology offers the oil- and maintenance-free benefits of a direct drive system, but the similarities end there. The Invector system uses a universal motor that requires only half the starting current of traditional induction motors.

"Universal motors have impressive starting capabilities even with long extension cords, where traditional induction motors are known to trip breakers or have trouble starting in cold weather," said Kurt Beckman, a Coleman Powermate engineer who helped develop the new technology.

The six new air compressors range from a 3.0-horsepower motor on a 4-gallon pancake tank to a 5.5- horsepower motor on a 27-gallon vertical tank.

In addition, Coleman Powermate's new Invector Technology is the only system to feature a unique, patent-pending cooling system.

"The technology features a single-path, multi-fin cooling design, providing continuous, focused air flow across the motor, belt and pump for optimum cooling," said Beckman. "Compressor air is pulled through a large intake silencer tube to reduce noise and provide improved sound quality."

Invector Technology enables Coleman Powermate's air compressors to run 30 percent cooler than direct drive models, and provide 16 percent more air delivery at 90 PSI and 19 percent more air
delivery at 40 PSI.

"Best of all, the new cooling system also reduces the air compressor's weight and extends its life span," said Faller. "These compressors are great for anywhere you need air: the garage, workshop, hobby shop, sewing room, basement and greenhouse."

The Invector air compressors are completely enclosed by a high-impact shroud. In addition to covering all moving parts, the shroud places all controls within easy reach, incorporates a large easy-to-use on/off switch and provides ample storage space for up to six air tools.

An automatic thermal overload protection system and an integrated internal fuse provide double defense against high temperatures and high voltages. In addition, a quick connect coupler has been added to each unit for a quick and easy air hose connection.
