Agilent Technologies' Digital Signal Oscilloscopes Sales Shatter Company Sales Records

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 27, 2007 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced a record opening month for its Agilent 5000 Series digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs). The 5000 Series tripled the company's previous record for oscilloscope orders and shipments. Agilent has been a leader in oscilloscope technology since 1956.
"We had high expectations for this product," said Jay Alexander, general manager of Agilent's Design Validation Division. "Still, the overwhelming response from our distributors and customers has exceeded our best-case scenario. We attribute the 5000 Series' success to the high demand for high-resolution measurements in an affordable and very portable package."
"A customer called requesting a competitive scope," said Rachael Lee of Metric Test, a distributor selling the 5000 Series scopes. "I asked why he wanted to buy that model when Agilent just came out with a better scope in the same price range. He could see immediately that the Agilent specs were extraordinary for a portable instrument. I had the purchase order for the Agilent 5000 DSO within an hour of the customer seeing its specs."
With 1 Mpts deep memory, the new Agilent 5000 Series oscilloscopes merge high-resolution, lab-quality waveform acquisition and measurement capability with a lightweight, portable frame. For the first time, high-resolution measurements - typically taken with larger, more expensive instrumentation - can be taken wherever they are needed, either in the field or at the bench. The new DSOs are ideal for engineers working in a broad array of industries, including the computer, communications, consumer electronics and aerospace/defense markets.
Agilent's portable deep-memory oscilloscopes allow engineers to discover the root of debugging issues notably faster than they can using previous-generation portable oscilloscopes. Designed to achieve a 100,000 wfms/s acquisition rate - up to 100 times faster than the next-closest competitor - the Agilent 5000 Series offers the leading glitch-capturing capability in its class. A high-definition XGA display system, which displays signals in 256 levels of intensity grading, highlights varying degrees of signal activity. This feature provides an unrivaled ability to view signal anomalies as they occur.
