Aerovox Promotes Use of Dual-Level HID Lighting Capacitors to Help Save Energy

Supports company commitment to increasing energy efficiency

New Bedford, MA - Aerovox Corp. is encouraging use of dual-level (bi-level) HID lighting in parking and other exterior applications as well as indoor warehousing to enhance performance and reduce energy consumption. HID lighting systems are a significant portion of the lighting load in the commercial and industrial sectors. Dual-level operation saves energy by maintaining the lamp in warm-up mode, eliminating the energy-consuming warm-up time.

"While regulations mandating energy efficiency in lighting are already in place in California, we anticipate similar minimum energy performance standards will soon be required by other states," said Jim Faughnan, President & CEO. "Aerovox's dual-level HID lighting capacitors are already widely used and have proven to be effective and reliable in these applications."

Aerovox's dual-level HID capacitors are made to order in 1-3/4 or 2 inch oval metal cases with three-terminal construction in any combination of two capacitances. They are suitable for use up to 100°C and rated for 60,000 hour duty at 90°C. They are easily retrofitted into existing HID fixtures.
