Aerohive Networks Wins Best of Interop Award

LAS VEGAS, May 23 // - Today at Interop, Aerohive Networks, creators of the "cooperative control" wireless LAN (WLAN) access point (CC-AP), announced that it was named the "Best Startup" award winner of the 2007 Best of Interop Awards. The award was announced yesterday at a ceremony held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center during Interop Las Vegas 2007. Aerohive was one of only eight companies to win a prestigious Best of Interop award this year. Winners were hand-selected by Network Computing's panel of expert judges after a rigorous judging process. Aerohive emerged from stealth mode earlier this month, announcing the availability of next-generation enterprise wireless LAN products and the company's first customer.

"The Best of Interop Awards are always an indicator of the most innovative and exciting offerings in these product categories, and this year's winners are no exception," said Art Wittmann, editor-in-chief, Network Computing. "Aerohive Networks and each of the other winners have truly demonstrated superior technology and innovation, and deserve recognition for their contributions to the industry."

"We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award and the industry recognition for our cooperative control wireless LAN solutions," said David Flynn, chief executive officer, Aerohive Networks. "We believe that the evolution of the entire access layer from today's wired network to an all-wireless network will require a network architecture unencumbered by costly centralized network controllers."

Industry Recognition for Cooperative Control WLAN Architecture

Aerohive's new class of wireless LAN equipment eliminates the need for centralized wireless LAN controllers, enabling a next-generation cooperative control wireless LAN architecture ideal for whole-enterprise deployment. In Aerohive cooperative control wireless LAN networks, multiple HiveAPs self-organize into groups called "hives", sharing control information. The result is enterprise-class management, mobility, and security without the cost, capacity, performance, and availability issues associated with controller deployments. The cooperative control architecture provides the reliability necessary for mission-critical networks, is optimized for voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN) applications, and scales easily to support 802.11n.

"Year after year, the Best of Interop Awards makes a significant contribution to Interop's goal of driving the adoption of technology by presenting the latest advancements in business technology," said Lenny Heymann, general manager, Interop. "We congratulate Aerohive Networks as the winner of the Best Startup Award in the 2007 Best of Interop Awards, and thank them for their ongoing contributions to the industry."

Aerohive will be exhibiting and demonstrating its cooperative control wireless LAN solutions in booth #1775 at Interop.
