Aeroform(TM) Thermoset Compounds from IDI Bring Durability and Stability to Small Wind Applications

February 25, 2009

NOBLESVILLE, IN (USA) - IDI Composites International, the premier global formulator and manufacturer of BMC and SMC thermoset molding compounds, announces their line of Aeroform(TM) thermoset molding products, designed specifically for demanding "small wind" energy applications, where exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, durability, UV resistance, and low specific gravity are required.

Thermoset sheet molding compounds (SMC) are comprised of fiber reinforcement in a polymer resin. Once molded, the materials are exceptionally strong, able to absorb both shock and vibration. They are also resistant to a variety of corrosive and natural forces, such as UV light and moisture, and maintain their shape and performance attributes for decades. Components can be molded in color, or color can be applied after molding.

IDI materials offer superior moldability and parts consolidation, which allows manufacturers to design the most efficient and cost-effective solution for their market. Aeroform thermoset materials also comply with various safety regulations and fire codes, increasing the potential number of installations.
