ADwin Data Acquisition Systems for Rotating Machine Applications

CAS DataLoggers Supplies Real-Time DAQ Solutions from Jager

CHESTERLAND OH— Rotating machine applications require high-precision timing and powerful software analysis capability. For these demanding projects, CAS DataLoggers provides sophisticated ADwin data acquisition systems from Jager for users in many fields including Power Generation using wind and water turbines; Production and R&D Test Stands with gearboxes, transmissions, power trains, and more. Our ADwin standalone systems support parallel, individually-controlled, real-time processes while running independently of the PC's operating system. These cost-effective systems provide deterministic execution of real-time processes with response times of 1 usecond or less for high-speed acquisition and also offer detailed analysis functions.

A key feature of ADwin systems is their tightly coupled analog and digital inputs along with counters providing extremely low latency operation. Real-Time angular-based functions include complex trigger applications (e.g. DAQ angular ranges), On-line analysis of data/statistics/vibration/harmonics/etc., and control functions, open-and-closed-loop, and signal/waveform generation.

Large I/O variety:

ADwin systems are available in 3 form factors: the ADwin-Light-16 which offers 8 analog inputs, the ADwin-Gold/Gold II with 16 analog inputs and the ADwin-Pro/Pro II Series with a modular form factor with plug in modules allowing up to 480 analog or digital inputs in a single chassis. There are also a variety of other I/O options including CANbus, SSI, Profibus/Fieldbus, RS-232/485, and signal conditioner modules.

Online Analysis of Rotation Processes:

ADwin systems acquire analog signals correlated to a shaft encoder signal. For every measurement point (angular position) users can run an online analysis over N revolutions (working cycles). Min/Max/Mean curves can also be calculated. Over a whole revolution period, users can calculate the RMS, total min and max value, and periodically record working cycles with 360°, 720°, 60°, 90°, 120° or any other resolution. Other analysis types include FFT, DFT, filtering, online statistics, etc.

Rotation Speed Analysis

ADwin systems are ideal for acquiring rotating speed data as well as analyzing and detecting rotating speed fluctuation. ADwin uses a fast counter module with 100MHz onboard reference for speed analysis including online routines to detect any fluctuation, and a combined period + event counter block to evaluate from low speed to high speed at the same high resolution.

Powerful Analysis Software:

Real-time development is available with the user-friendly ADbasic and ADtools software. Designing a user interface, operators can perform in ALL common programming languages or development environments, defining the processing sequences executed on the ADwin hardware. ADbasic contains the functions to access all inputs/outputs as well as functions for floating-point operations, process control, and communication with the PC.

Additionally, using the easily configurable ADtools software, users can display their real-time data either graphically or numerically to visualize process sequencings or to set input values via potentiometers, sliders or push buttons. The ADwin software environment can be used under Windows and LINUX or as a reliable stand-alone data acquisition system. ADwin also has drivers for many of the popular programming environments including VB, VC/C++, LabVIEW, TestPoint and others.

Additionally, free ADlog software comes ready-to-use for standard configuration and programmable pre-analysis of data. ADlog can be adapted for any other ADwin hardware configuration and can be integrated into any customer’s software project.
