Advantech Launches Compact Mobile Data Terminal for Fleet Management

Irvine, California, Jan. 06, 2009 - Advantech, a global leader in embedded solutions and services, released two products today to enrich its Mobile Resource Management product lines. The VITA-350P, which is an ARM/Xscale, Windows CE Embedded, Mobile Data Terminal, and the TREK-305R, which is a 5.7" TFT vehicle-mount display panel. The combination of VITA-350P and TREK-305R makes a perfect fleet management solution with real-time tracking, as well as an efficient dispatch navigation and vehicle data collection system, designed for fleet owners and drivers alike.
Monitor Vehicle Performance Data with Easy-to-Use API Utilities
VITA-350P, connected to an OBDII data streamer can monitor common vehicle performance data, such as vehicle and engine speed, fuel level, brake switch status, and odometer data. It can collect data from long haul trucks, private delivery fleets, waste disposal fleets, tank fleets, couriers, trailers, and utility fleets making fleet management smarter, easier, more efficient, and most of all, more cost effective. VITA-350P is unique in the market. The GPRS module is provided by Siemens (Cinterion) and the GPS one by u-blox; two names which are world renowned for their high quality and optimal performance. Advantech also provides APIs to ease application development and provide maximum flexibility to customers. VITA-350P is equipped with Advantech's MRM utility, an easy-to-use, flexible human machine interface, providing functions to customize fleet management applications in a Windows XP environment, and save GPS data log files to the onboard flash.
Touch-Enabled Display Eases Two-way Communications and Increases Efficiency
TREK-305R is equipped with a 5.7" TFT display panel with a resistive touch screen, and a VESA-compliant mounting kit for easy installation. VITA-350P provides GIS (Geographical Information System) information, offering solutions for both fleet owners and drivers. For fleet owners, the location of all vehicles can be pinpointed on detailed maps at the back-end operation center. Dispatch and two-way communication between driver and the central office couldn't be easier. For drivers, the system can calculate the shortest route, saving time, fuel, and money, while ensuring they reach the proper destination.
Certified to Meet Standards of Durability and Compatibility
VITA-350P is certified with both the E-mark and MIL-810F514.5C-3 standards; the first one essential for vehicle-mounted products in the European market, and the second for ensuring that VITA-350P is shock-resistant. ISO-7637 Level III standard also ensures compatibility with other vehicle components. With its compact and heavy-duty plastic housing design, VITA-350P is ideal for mounting vertically or horizontally inside most vehicles.
