Advanced Systems Concepts Announces ActiveBatch® Management Pack for Nagios®

New Management Pack for ASCI's Popular Job Scheduling Application Allows System Administrators To Monitor Performance and Health of ActiveBatch Jobs, Plans and Queues from Nagios Consoles

MORRISTOWN, N.J., -- Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), maker of ActiveBatch® Workload Automation and Job Scheduling Software, today announced the availability of the ActiveBatch Management Pack for Nagios®, the well-known open source network monitoring software application. With the Nagios Management Pack, network and IT operations staff can now oversee ActiveBatch Objects, bringing even greater convenience to one of the world's most versatile job scheduling platforms.

ActiveBatch currently provides a free installation kit for Nagios/ActiveBatch users that simplifies the configuration of the Nagios server and allows for the monitoring of the ActiveBatch Job Scheduler and Execution Agents. The ActiveBatch Management Pack for Nagios takes the next step, allowing users to monitor ActiveBatch Objects such as Jobs, Plans and Queues, thus adding a powerful new capability by providing users with the ability to monitor critical workflows whose failure affects mission critical processes via the Nagios console. The management pack also monitors memory consumption, CPU usage and other execution agent operational parameters, in addition to simplifying the Nagios system setup.

"Job Scheduling and IT monitoring solutions are about giving IT Operations the ability to monitor the essential business process and technologies that allow their organization to run," said Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Advanced Systems Concepts. "As we've done for users of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and OpenView, this management pack allows administrators to maintain a more comprehensive and unified view of network activity. Our goal is to continually add value to ActiveBatch--and we know this management pack will provide new flexibility for enterprises of all sizes."

ActiveBatch and Nagios jointly support Linux, UNIX, Windows and other systems. By integrating ActiveBatch into the Nagios monitoring dashboard, users are assured of prompt alerts and faster resolution. For example, when an alert is raised for an ActiveBatch Plan, Job, Queue or service, the Nagios console will alert network operations members with detailed information for a timely response that lowers time-to-resolution and improves overall service levels.

Nagios has gained currency with a wide range of organizations for its reliability, strong community support and low cost. The application, which issues alerts in the event of a system, service, application or business process failure, ensures prompt attention before outages can affect operations. Currently there are over one million estimated Nagios users worldwide.

The ActiveBatch Management Pack for Nagios is the latest enhancement for one of the industry's most trusted job scheduling and workload automation applications. Deployed at enterprises in 40 countries, ActiveBatch is a cross-platform solution that allows enterprises to centrally manage disparate jobs and workflows, including tasks across disparate operating systems, enterprise applications and even Web Services. Supporting Windows and other common operating systems, platforms and applications as well as Web Services and SOA, ActiveBatch allows users to optimize enterprise resources; its central dashboard, Integrated Jobs Library, event-based architecture and "production-ready" job steps help users quickly and efficiently expedite the IT workload automation process.
