Original Press Release:

Secure Industrial ADSL 2/2+ Router

Designed for secure communication between remote sites, the DR-250 is based on the very latest ADSL2/2+ and supports the fastest broadband speeds available. It enables economical and reliable links connecting equipment such as SCADA, PLCs, RTUs and I/O devices. It provides 20 encrypted secure tunnels and can incorporates a UTMS 3G/HSDPA wireless card for back up. DR-250 is the ideal solution for replacing high-cost leased lines. Legacy serial based equipment can be connected to the DR-250 via the onboard RS-232 terminal server. DR-250 allows a migration path from older legacy systems to new IP based solutions without the need to upgrade the communication equipment.

The DR-250 is an industrial ADSL router, compatible with current and future requirements in remote telemetry and intended for industrial control system applications. The DR-250 supports ADSL, ADSL 2 and ADSL2+ broadband technologies enabling communication with remote sites at speeds of up to 8 Mbit/s. It has a 4-port Ethernet switch and a Dsub25 RS232 serial port for local connections. The RS 232 port can be used to connect serial devices (PLC, RTU or I/O) or as a backup in conjunction with a Westermo modem in the case of ADSL line outage. DR-250 can also be supplied with a combination of UTMS 3G/HSDPA wireless card, and or PSTN/ISDN to backup the primary ADSL should there be an interruption in service.

The DR-250 router has a built-in statefull inspection firewall and can support 20 IPsec VPN (Virtual Private Networks) tunnels, secured by 3DES, AES, SSL and SSH encryption protocols and MD5, SHA1 and certificate based key exchange protocols. The DR-250 has optional support for up to 200 simultaneous VPN tunnels. These features ensure the protection of remote sites against denial of service attacks and hacking. The VPNs increase security and enable the establishment of fully-secure encrypted links between several sites. A typical application would be to replace costly dedicated leased lines with a virtual dedicated line, using a simple commercial ADSL Internet service.

The DR-250 is supplied with a complete mounting kit for DIN rail or shelf installation. Its tough metal case, its wide temperature range (- 20 °C to + 60 °C) and its 10 to 28 VDC power supply enable use of the DR-250 in severe environment applications.

The DR-250 can also be used on a remote site to browse, edit or modify a PLC or any other device connected to the LAN network. It can handle e-mail transmission and file transfer via an FTP server. It also supports VRRP (Virtual Redundant Router Protocol), allowing a single gateway address to be shared between several routers and providing multiple WAN backup paths. For complex network applications the DR-250 supports OSPF, BGP and RIP2. The Ethernet interfaces support multicast IGMP, VLAN, SNMP, SNTP, FTP and the standard TCP, UDP and DHCP protocols.
