ADMET Provides Servo-Hydraulic Actuators - Controllers for Custom Materials Testing Machine Designs

Builds on ADMET's retrofits experience...

NORWOOD, Mass. - Feb. 29, 2008 - ADMET Inc., a provider of integrated materials testing systems and retrofits, today announced that it now provides components for customers who want to build their own testing machines. The components, primarily servo-hydraulic actuators and power units, as well as digital controllers, enable laboratory and production testing facilities to power and control their own custom materials testing frames.

Commenting on the new business initiative, Richard Gedney, ADMET founder and president, said, "This is a natural extension of our retrofit business. We have extensive experience fitting the most advanced electrohydraulic and digital control systems to a wide range of load frames. Our engineers know how to correctly size and design systems to work in any configuration. We can advise in-house engineers on the best approach and equipment for their particular design."

Integrated electrohydraulic components

ADMET provides customers who want to build their own specialized testing machines with servo-hydraulic actuators and power units that range from 2kN (500 lbf) to 1,000kN (250,000 lbf) for tension, compression and flexure testing. ADMET engineers integrate hydraulic pumps, flow controls and actuators to ensure compatibility. Customers can self-install the components or use ADMET's installation services.

Digital controllers - Testing systems

ADMET offers digital controllers that provide closed loop control of the servo-actuators and accept data from load cells, displacement transducers and extensometers. Available controllers include the eP Digital and the Precise Digital controllers - standalone units that control and record tests and connect to Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and PC-based spreadsheet programs. ADMET also offers two 32-bit Microsoft Windows-based materials testing systems that include software and a high speed embedded controller. MTESTWindows(TM) (http://www.admet.com/MTESTWindows.htm) is a third generation materials testing system that includes four inputs, complex servo control profiles, data analysis and report generation for static testing. ADMET's fourth generation materials testing system is MTESTQuattro (http://www.admet.com/assets/MTESTQuattroBrochure_rev1.pdf) and features up to eight inputs, complex servo control profiles, data analysis and report generation for static and dynamic tests to 20 Hz.
