Adhesives bond magnets, speakers, and electrical wiring.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for cold bonding close fitting, opaque substrates to steel housings, 800 Series adhesives cure with activator for interfacial bonding in 30-60 sec and exhibit gap filling capabilities and thermal shock resistance. Multi-Cure 600 Series adhesives, offered in 4 types, cure on surfaces in as little as 10 sec when exposed to UV light. Uses include wire tacking, strain relief, and seam sealing.

Selector Guide Features New Adhesives For Bonding Magnets, Speakers, Electrical Wiring

A selector guide from the DYMAX Corporation introduces a new line of light and activator curing adhesives for bonding metal, ferrite, ceramics and providing strain relief for various wiring assemblies. Featured are the new 800 Series adhesives for "cold bonding" close fitting, opaque substrates such as magnets to steel housings. Also featured are the Multi-Cure 600 Series adhesives that cure on surfaces in seconds when exposed to UV light. The new products are upgrades of similar adhesives that have been used successfully for the listed applications for over 20 years. New improvements include higher clarity of the cured bonds, good gap filling and fast fixtures.

A chart on page one shows why these materials have simplified the assembly of d.c. motors, speakers, pot and e-cores, as well as wire harnesses, armatures and commutations. In comparison to the long cure times of traditional epoxy adhesives the "cold bonder" cure curves show fixtures in 30 to 60 seconds and complete cures with light in seconds as little as 10 seconds.

Three new 800 Series adhesives that cure with activator for interfacial bonding are offered. Though they all exhibit good gap filling capability, as well as excellent thermal shock resistance, some grades exhibit better adhesion to special substrates such as plated surfaces and gold. Charts show features such as tensile-shear bond strength, viscosity and typical fixture rates.

Four new light curing adhesives are available in the Multi-Cure® 600 line. These are commonly used for wire tacking, strain relief and seam sealing. Examples of curing systems appropriate for fast and deep cures of these materials are shown in the selector guide.

The new adhesives cure or fixture in seconds at room temperature, thereby eliminating ovens and waiting for long bake cycles and cool down times. Fast fixture times also allow for 100% in-line Q.C. testing. Their thixotropic gel viscosity simplifies dispensing and provides precise control over the amount dispensed. Low viscosity activators can be easily sprayed or applied with felt pads.
