Adhesive Mixer blends structural acrylics.

Press Release Summary:

External Mix allows two-part, structural acrylic adhesives to be thoroughly blended and applied without use of static mix nozzles. It eliminates need to replace or purge static mixers. With system, adhesives cure at room temperature, achieve handling strength in less than 60 sec, and fill gaps up to 0.1 in. It can be used with any of company's mixable, structural acrylic adhesives.

External Mix Technology Ensures Thorough Blending Of Adhesives And Helps Increase Productivity And Reduce Waste

BRIDGEWATER, NJ -- With Permabond's External Mix technology, two-part, structural acrylic adhesives can be thoroughly blended and applied without the use of static mix nozzles. The system helps boost productivity and cut waste, since there is no need to replace or purge any static mixers.

Compared to conventional bead-on-bead systems, the External Mix technology provides higher performance and reliability. By contrast, with bead-on-bead systems, the adhesive may not blend properly when the components are clamped. This can result in an incomplete cure and, therefore, insufficient bond strength.

In addition, with the External Mix system, adhesives cure at room temperature, achieve handling strength in less than 60 seconds and fill gaps up to 0.1 inch. With surface-activated systems, the adhesive and an activator are applied to separate components, which are then clamped together; the activator initiates the cure on the surface of one component, and the cure then continues through to the other component. Gaps can limit how far the cure actually reaches and can affect the strength and reliability of the bond. However, gaps do not cause a problem with the External Mix system because the adhesive is blended prior to production.

Permabond's External Mix is a proven technology in production systems. It can be used with any of Permabond's mixable, structural acrylic adhesives. These adhesive systems are designed for bonding magnets and metallic substrates, and are primarily used by manufacturers of permanent magnet motors and loud speakers.
