ADC Launches All-IP RAN Wireless Solutions for Residential, Enterprise and Outdoor Applications

MINNEAPOLIS, Mar 19, 2007-- ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT) (http://www.adc.com/) today announced that it will launch its new All-IP Radio Access Network (RAN) wireless solutions portfolio at CTIA Wireless 2007 (Booth #4079) in Orlando, Fla., March 27-29. At the conference, ADC will showcase its All-IP RAN solutions for GSM/EDGE services using standard IP networks for cost-effective backhaul, unified network management and control for residential, enterprise and outdoor applications.

At the center of ADC's All-IP RAN solutions is the new FlexWave(TM) Base Station System (BSS). The FlexWave BSS allows wireless operators to meet the growing coverage and capacity demands of advanced wireless services, while at the same time containing costs through flexible IP backhaul. By deploying the FlexWave BSS over an IP network, wireless operators may realize significant OPEX savings, and also protect their investment as the network evolves to a complete end-to-end IP architecture.

"Wireless operators are under great pressure to find a means to provide the mobility and bandwidth capabilities their customers need," said Hilton Nicholson, president of the Active Infrastructure Business Unit at ADC. "ADC's All-IP RAN solution offers a flexible, scalable platform that delivers coverage and capacity where needed over a single transport network to customers anytime, anywhere to deliver feature-rich wireless applications they demand. FlexWave provides an integrated solution for converged indoor and outdoor coverage, ensuring wireless operators that their customers are always connected."

The FlexWave BSS is a complete GSM base station system delivering GSM over IP. Major components of the system include:

o FlexWave nanoBTS for multi-tenant residential and enterprise applications;

o FlexWave microBTS for outdoor, hole-fill applications;

o FlexWave Base Station Controller; and

o FlexWave Network Management System.

ADC's FlexWave delivers standards-based air interfaces to mobile handsets, utilizing IP for backhaul. FlexWave BSS provides a foundation for fixed mobile convergence to support IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services as well as extended coverage and capacity in hard-to-reach areas. Inherently flexible, it offers simplified management and provisioning of elements that enable faster time to service. The system can either interface to a traditional TDM core network or an IP-based architecture. All of the FlexWave network elements are supported by a common network control and management system that delivers a complete RAN solution for residential, enterprise and outdoor applications.

"Traditional technologies are economically inadequate to deliver coverage to hard-to-reach indoor environments," said Philip Marshall, vice president of Enabling Technologies at Yankee Group. "A variety of point solutions proposed in the past do not address the full operational requirements for practical implementations. Solutions like ADC's FlexWave facilitate an economic solution by combining low-cost radio and efficient IP transport technologies."
