ADC enables 12-bit resolution with 200 MHz signal bandwidth.

Press Release Summary:

Delivering 550 MSPS sample rate, ADS54R463 allows for high IF and direct RF sampling architectures to simplify system design. It offers 64.1 dBFS SNR, 80 dBc SFDR at 450 MHz and 62.5 dBFS SNR, 70 dBc SFDR at 900 MHz, enabling efficient power amplifier linearization in digital pre-distortion solutions, as well as range and sensitivity in defense imaging and communication systems. Supplied in 14 x 14 mm TQFP package, unit features fully buffered differential analog input.

Original Press Release:

Fastest 12-bit ADC Provides Unmatched Dynamic Performance for Input Frequencies above 500 MHz

DALLAS, Feb. 26 - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) today introduced a monolithic 12-bit, 550-MSPS (mega samples per second) analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which provides more than 200 MHz of signal bandwidth in applications where high resolution, accuracy and linearity are critical. The new pipeline ADC offers the highest spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) available for input frequencies (IF) above 500 MHz, enabling more efficient power amplifier linearization in digital pre-distortion (DPD) solutions, better range and sensitivity in defense imaging and communication systems, and higher accuracy in wide-band test and measurement equipment. Key Features

o Highest linearity and SNR available above 500 MHz IF
o 64.1 dBFS SNR, 80 dBc SFDR @ 450MHz, 500MSPS
o 62.5 dBFS SNR, 70 dBc SFDR @ 900MHz, 500MSPS
o Fully buffered differential analog input
o Built in TI's BiCom3 technology

Key Benefits

o Allows for high IF and direct RF sampling architectures to simplify
system design
o Eases analog front-end design by providing constant input impedance
over input frequency and eliminating track-and-hold kick back
o Works well in high temperature and high radiation environments

Availability and pricing

The ADS54R463 is available today in a 14 x 14 mm TQFP package which is pin compatible to the ADS5463 and ADS5474. The device is priced at $175 in 1000-piece quantities.
