Rockwell Automation Introduces New DODGE® GRIP TIGHT(TM) Adapter Ball Bearing
GREENVILLE, SC (December 11, 2002) Rockwell Automation has introduced a new adapter bearing in their ball bearing product line. With its fully concentric 360° inner ring, patent pending pull/push adapter system, and completely interchangeable housing design, the DODGE GRIP TIGHT Adapter ball bearing is the easy-on/easy-off solution for damage-free shafting, reduced vibration and greater cost/inventory savings.
With the new DODGE GRIP TIGHT Adapter ball bearing, the adapter is press fit to the shaft for full concentric contact, 360° through the length of the bearing. This eliminates fretting corrosion and prevents shaft damage. It also reduces system vibration and allows for quieter operation. Plus, this new DODGE bearing has been specifically engineered to run at higher speeds and operate cooler for longer grease life. A PROGUARD PLUS seal with flingers protects the bearing by keeping lubricants in and contaminants out.
The GRIP TIGHT adapter features a unique patent pending pull/push adapter system. It can be installed or removed quickly, with no assembly or special tools needed for installation. During mounting, the collar/inner ring system locks the tapered adapter sleeve under the bearing and onto the shaft. To dismount, a built-in bearing puller pulls the bearing off the adapter, and pushes the adapter in the opposite direction out from under the bearing.
The GRIP TIGHT adapter ball bearing provides a completely interchangeable housing design for current setscrew, eccentric collar, and concentric clamp collar bearings making significant inventory reduction possible. Rather than inventory a complete line of individual bore sizes for each housing style, customers can now purchase a housing assembly and adapter separately, with the adapter determining the bore size within a housing series.
The GRIP TIGHT adapter ball bearing is manufactured in standard bearing-grade steel, with a rugged cast iron adapter meeting current ISO standards. The bearing is shaft-ready right out of the box and offered in normal and medium duty with shaft diameters of 1/2" to 3-7/16" and 17mm-70mm. Housings available include pillow block; tapped base; two-, three- and four-bolt flange; piloted flange; and take-up.
