Flowserve Releases New Device Type Manager for Limitorque MX Actuator Software Slashes Configuration Time, Reduces Commissioning Costs

DALLAS, February 22, 2008 - Flowserve Corporation, a leading global provider of fluid motion and control products and services (NYSE: FLS), announces the debut of a Device Type Manager (DTM) for the Limitorque MX actuator. The new Profibus DP-V1/PA DTM V 1.0 software significantly reduces commissioning time, maintenance and related operating costs. The DTM improves productivity by enabling direct interaction between the user and the valve actuator using FDT-DTM technology.

"With our DTM, you can commission a new actuator in about 20 minutes," said Scott Wilkerson, product manager, Flowserve Flow Control. "The Flowserve Profibus DTM software reduces costs by eliminating the need to walk around the plant and configure each actuator, which can take up to an hour or more per device. Cost savings also result from not having to purchase laptops or special software tools to configure the actuators. Each instrument can be configured from the DCS host by opening the DTM from inside the FDT frame application."

The Profibus DP-V1/PA DTM V 1.0 is a software component that contains device-specific application information. The DTM can be integrated into engineering and Field Device Tool (FDT) frame applications, such as stand-alone commissioning tools or asset management systems that are equipped with FDT interfaces. FDT technology is independent from any specific communication protocol, device software, or host system, allowing any device to be accessed from any DCS host through any protocol.

"With no need for a laptop or other special software, our DTM provides a user-friendly graphical interface and enables network users to communicate in real time with the device, monitor diagnostic information including alarms, and significantly reduce configuration time," said Wilkerson.

The Limitorque MX DTM is certified by the FDT Group per specification 1.2 and a free download is now available at www.flowserve.com.

About the Limitorque MX actuator
Flowserve Limitorque introduced the MX electronic actuator in 1997 as the first smart actuator that provides uncompromised reliability and performance in an easy-to-use design. Several MX innovations were market firsts, including: a patented absolute encoder that doesn't require battery back-up; the patented Limigard technology; easy- to-use menus in ten languages, and the use of Hall-effect devices to eliminate potentially troublesome reed switches. The MX is also available with optional Bluetooth technology. MX provides predictable, reliable, and safe operation in applications that are subject to rigorous customer requirements and extreme environments.
