FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 6 -- ActivIdentity Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTI), a global leader in digital identity assurance, today announced that the company is providing global enterprises using the Sun Microsystems Solaris(TM) Operating System (OS) and solutions with proven, government-grade identity assurance. In the United States alone, ActivIdentity has enabled the secure issuance of more than ten million smart card identity badges to federal public sector employees to address their departments' identification, security and compliance requirements. Now, Sun enterprise customers are able to seize the security trend begun by these government agencies. This new product line, ActivIdentity Solutions for Sun, is available now for the Solaris 10 OS on SPARC and x64/x86 platforms and is integrated with Sun's industry-leading Identity Management Solutions, providing organizations with a fully integrated platform for identity assurance.
"The combination of Sun's Identity and Access Management products with ActivIdentity solutions on the Solaris 10 OS, which now includes government- grade labeled security through the integrated Trusted Extensions feature, is powerful," noted Juan Carlos Soto, vice president of Market Development at Sun Microsystems. "Sun continues to address customer security concerns by subjecting the Solaris 10 OS to stringent independent certification, and has been awarded one of the highest levels of Common Criteria certification available for a commercial operating system, achieving CAPP and RBACPP at EAL 4+ certification. The combined solution of Solaris 10 and ActivIdentity products addresses the needs of security-aware government organizations as well as companies looking to establish strong proof of identity across the enterprise."
The Solaris 10 11/06 release with Trusted Extensions is currently in process for Common Criteria certification at EAL4+ with the addition of the Labeled Security Protection Profile (LSPP).
Most enterprise organizations have separate processes for issuance and administration of facility access badges and IT security devices. This leads to high costs, duplicated administrative efforts and increased security risks. ActivIdentity Solutions for Sun fully integrates Sun identity management capabilities with the ActivIdentity smart card approach to access management, creating a single solution for managing both network and physical access. Smart cards for facility and IT access can be issued as a single function, increasing security and reducing operational overhead.
"The launch of ActivIdentity Solutions for Sun marks a milestone in enterprise security," said Jason Hart, CEO of ActivIdentity. "ActivIdentity is the only digital identity assurance provider to offer support for multiple platforms including Solaris, Windows, Unix and Linux to best fit the individual identity assurance infrastructure needs of enterprise organizations. The strength of the integration between Sun and ActivIdentity technologies enables the convergence of logical and physical security and access control infrastructures. This provides a level of security previously known only to world governments while improving organizational efficiency within the enterprise."
