Original Press Release:

ActiveX Control for Unix-Windows Process Data Connectivity

New ActiveX control for the communication of Process Analyzer data to process control computers and PLCs expands ATech's line of available ActiveX controls and productivity designed for us with Advanced Analyzer Systems. The Data Connectivity Control allows a user to easily implement data transfer from a Unix Platform to a WIN32 Platform such as is needed when connecting process analyzers to process control systems. Other controls for the operation of a variety of full spectrum NIR/UV-Vis/FT-IR spectrometers are also available.

The Data Connectivity Control package includes a configurable Unix server program, a windows data receiver client and an example VB display program than can be used as a diagnostic monitor or as a user application prototype. Communications utilize industry standard TCP/IP. The client/server pair incorporates a watchdog timer, Ack/Nak/Status messages and variable format data as characters, integers and floating point scalars and vectors. The Windows ActiveX control can be easily incorporated with Win32 application container programs such as Visual Basic forms, Browsers, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents or other programs that allow ActiveX controls.

The Windows side Client Application produces a User Information Screen. An example of one such screen, shown below, is for the monitoring of 7 values being send from the Unix Server to the Windows Client.
