Action Instruments Signal Conditioners Approved for Use in Hazardous Class I Div 2 Areas

LEESBURG, VA, USA, 1 August 2006 - Action Instruments, a division of Eurotherm, is pleased to announce the signal conditioners now approved for input/output signals from Div 1 hazardous area locations:
o The WV408 - DC voltage/current input isolating signal conditioner and
o The WV428 - Thermocouple input isolating signal conditioner.
Both models can now be installed directly in the Class I, Div 2 [Groups A, B, C and D] hazardous locations.
Significant labor savings over traditional protection methods can be enjoyed because there is no need for explosion proof enclosures and conduits. Additional features of the modules are: Smart Power, which eliminates wasted power for low loop resistance loads in the current output mode; High accuracy and enhanced diagnostic LED's; Compact DIN-rail mount housing and CE, CSA approved and UL recognized.
A Class I hazardous location is one in which flammable gases or vapors may be present in the air to be ignitable or explosive. Typical applications include petroleum refineries, spray finishing areas, utility gas plants and fuel servicing areas. In a division 2 area, the flammable gases or vapors are not normally present in an explosive concentration, but could accidentally exist. Group A includes Acetylene, Group B includes Hydrogen, Group C includes Ether and Group D includes Hydrocarbons, fuels and solvents.
