Advantage Series Accounting Software Now Supports DB2 Universal Database on iSeries with Linux and OS400 Operating Systems

PLEASANTON, CA, September 9, 2003 - ACCPAC International, Inc., a subsidiary of Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA), announced today support for DB2® Universal Database (UDB) running on IBM® eServer(tm) iSeries(tm) with its award winning ACCPAC Advantage Series(tm) accounting system. The ACCPAC® solution provides over 200,000 companies that rely on iSeries technology with an affordable and highly scalable accounting solution designed for the small and mid-size business (SMB) market.

ACCPAC Advantage Series is a foundation for ACCPAC end-to-end business management applications that include accounting, customer relationship management, e-commerce, point-of-sale, human resources, and warehouse management, as well as hundreds of vertical market applications such as manufacturing, service management, and time and billing, among others.

The new support for IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries and DB2 UDB for Linux on iSeries enables companies to extend the powerful benefits of IBM eServer iSeries by using it as a database server for ACCPAC Advantage Series. In doing so, companies can now derive even more value from their investment in IBM iSeries systems, reduce the need to purchase additional hardware and software, and avoid staff retraining.

"We continue to see a fundamental shift in the market as small and mid-size companies seek the benefits of business management systems that larger organizations have enjoyed, but without the complexity and cost, or being tied to one vendor platform," said ACCPAC President and CEO, David M. Hood. "With ACCPAC Advantage Series we're providing that flexibility and now enabling companies that depend on IBM eServer iSeries hardware to better leverage their investment with integrated, end-to-end business management applications."

According to Doug Mack, Marketing Manager, DB2 UDB for iSeries at IBM, ACCPAC's expanded support for DB2 brings greater technology choice to businesses. "ACCPAC's support for DB2 UDB for iSeries provides a new and attractive option for any company using or considering IBM eServer iSeries as their platform of choice. ACCPAC continues to demonstrate its leadership by providing cost-effective, integrated business management applications, which are now coupled with the powerful self-managing characteristics of iSeries."

ACCPAC Solution Providers acknowledge ACCPAC's decision to support iSeries creates tremendous opportunity for their existing and future IBM customers to build improved business management systems.

"This opens the door for our clients to experience even greater productivity gains and cost savings with ACCPAC and iSeries," said Barry Flacks of Toronto-based Networld, an ACCPAC Solution Provider that recently completed an integrated ACCPAC and iSeries installation. "When we compare the power of ACCPAC Advantage Series with other business management systems that have traditionally been available to iSeries users, there's no question that ACCPAC's solution delivers real cost benefit with the capabilities to fulfill the needs of local and multinational businesses. This will continue to be a driving focus for our business initiatives."
