Ethernity Networks Expands its Access Processor Offering to Include a Lower Throughput and Extremely Low Power Solution

The ENET3100 Supports Throughput of up to 1.5Gbps, Fully Comply With TR-101 and Consumes 1.3W

LOD, Israel, April 18 -- Ethernity Networks Ltd, a fables semiconductor company enabling the Programmable Network(TM), expands its ENET3000 Family to include the ENET3100 device, a low cost low power solution dedicated to ADSL/VDSL IP DSLAM and ONU solution. The ENET3100 device targets the low throughput and low power requirement of remote ADSL/VDSL applications, and fully complies with TR-101 specifications.

"To support the growing speed and complexity of DSL networks and the trend toward using remote terminals, access processors must deliver higher data rates while maximizing flexibility and minimizing power dissipation" said Josef Byrne, senior analyst, The Linley Group, and author of A Guide to Access Processors

Populating the ENET3100 using an Altera Cyclone(TM) II low-cost FPGA, enables Ethernity to provide deterministic throughput of 1.5 Gbps with a power dissipation of 1.3W which is three times less power than the closet Network processor competitor. By offering the ENET3100 Access Flow Processor solution on FPGA, we offer the access equipment designer a number of advantages associated with FPGA design including: customization of interfaces, field upgradeability, ability to incorporate other board logic and a path for an additional cost reduction.

The ENET3100 is part of the ENET3000 family together with ENET3200 that supports up to 3Gbps and the high end ENET3500 that support up to 5Gbps throughput used in a stackable VDSL pizza boxes. The entire ENET3000 family is a pin compatible solution using a different FPGA platform and is fully comply with TR-101 and Metro-Ethernet-Forum delivered on ultra low cost FPGA device enabling advanced flexibility, programmability and field upgradeability.
