Firetide® Announces Full-Featured Access Solution for Wireless Mesh Networks

New HotPoint(R) Access Points Provide Modular Indoor and Outdoor Wireless Client Access for Use With Firetide Wireless Mesh Networks

LAS VEGAS, May 2 / -- Firetide, Inc., a leading developer of wireless mesh networks announced a new line of HotPoint(R) access points to complement the company's HotPort(R) high performance mesh networks. The new products include indoor and outdoor models and can be used either as stand alone access points or can be connected to a Firetide HotPort mesh network for full integration.

The indoor model features a compact plenum-rated enclosure with optional brackets for wall, ceiling and office cubicle mounting. The outdoor model features a rugged, weatherproof enclosure, high gain antennas, and can receive its power directly from a connected mesh node eliminating the need for an external power supply. Firetide's integration of the mesh and access software provides for great feature and performance coupling when customers chose to deploy mesh and access together.

"We maintained a fully modular approach to provide maximum performance and flexibility for our customers," said Firetide CEO Bo Larsson. "Our design effectively integrates the mesh and access features for real-time critical applications such as voice, video and mobility. At the same time customers can make cost effective infrastructure investments by choosing exactly what they need, when they need it."

The HotPoint access points include features such as WPA2 encryption, multiple ESSID support, industry compliant QoS, and ruggedized enclosures. "We have always enabled our customers to use any third party access point with our mesh networks, and they still can," said Larsson. "However, many of our customers requested that we provide a full-featured mesh/access solution for both indoor and outdoor networks, so we developed our own best of class access points to meet their needs."

Whether connected directly to a Firetide wireless mesh network or to a wired infrastructure, the HotPoint access points are fully integrated and managed with the same HotView(TM) software used to manage Firetide mesh nodes. HotView provides remote management from a centralized location and users can manage all mesh and access traffic from a single console.

HotPoint access points will be available for shipment on June 30, 2006. Firetide products are sold through channel partners including distributors, value added resellers (VARs), and systems integrators. For more information about Firetide products, please visit www.firetide.com.
