Access Hardware Allowing for Radial Float

PEM® HYBRID(TM) floating panel fastener assemblies can be installed by hand or with a tool into any thin panel material (including stainless steel and printed circuit boards) and readily allow for radial float to compensate for mating hole misalignment up to .060"/1.52mm. These metal/plastic fasteners ideally suit attachment applications where subsequent access may be necessary.

Their fully captive steel screws keep parts to a minimum and eliminate risks associated with loose hardware that could fall out and damage internal components. Screw thread sizes range from #10-32 and #12-24 and M5 and M6. Varying lengths are available.

The panel fasteners (Type PFF(TM)) feature a standard slot/Phillips drive (or optional six-lobe drive) with a black ABS plastic molded-thru knob. External lobes enable operation by hand or tool. An aluminum retainer and spring-action plastic "fingers" hold the knob in a retracted position upon the fastener's installation.

Fasteners can be mounted in panels as thin as .031"/0.79mm by applying swaging force with a flaring punch. A washer placed over the shank of the fastener promotes the process.

Among options, various non-flaking knob colors can be ordered for color-coding or matching purposes and the assemblies can further be specified with UL 94 V0 knobs.
