AC Motor Drives replace valves in process control.

Press Release Summary:

VLT® 4000 VT Series adjustable frequency drives are easy to set up for variable torque applications such as flow, level, and pressure process control, or for controlling multiple parallel-coupled pumps and blowers. They have built-in harmonic distortion protection, permit use of standard pumps with integral ac motors, and reduce energy consumption. Drives are available in NEMA 1 or 12 enclosures, in 230, 380-460, or 550-600 Vac ratings up to 300 hp.

Original Press Release:

New Drives Optimize Control and Operation of Variable Torque Applications

LOVES PARK, IL -- Danfoss Drives introduces VLT® 4000 VT Series Adjustable Frequency Drives. The UL, cUL and CE listed drives are specifically designed to meet the performance and reliability demands of variable torque applications. These drives are easy to set up and operate, can be used in a wide range of variable torque applications, including those found in the material handling, packaging, food and beverage industries.

VLT 4000 VT drives feature built-in harmonic distortion protection and provide comprehensive protection of the drive, motor and process equipment. They eliminate control valves and problematic pressure storage tanks, reduce energy consumption maintenance and pump noise, and help provide higher product quality. VLT 4000 VT drives optimize flow, level and pressure process control, and are ideal for controlling multiple parallel-coupled pumps and blowers. They also enable the use of standard pumps with integral AC motors, and can be installed into existing plants using standard AC motors.

They are available in chassis, NEMA 1 or NEMA 12 enclosures, and 230 VAC (5 to 60 HP), 380-460 VAC (5 to 600 HP) or 550-600 VAC (5 to 300 HP) input. Full rated motor voltage and torque can be delivered down to 10% under voltage. Below this level output current and torque may be affected by low voltage, but the drive will not trip.

Danfoss Drives is a leading global producer of precision mechanical and electrical components, with locations in more than 120 countries. Danfoss created the VLT® name when they introduced the world's first mass-produced AFD in 1968, and the name has set the standard for quality adjustable frequency drives ever since.
