Sunnyvale-IDEC Corporation is excited to announce two new additions to the MicroSmart PLC family, an AC input expansion module and 24V DC All-In-One CPUs.
The AC input expansion module provides an easy solution for any system that requires direct 120V AC inputs. Up to eight 120V AC inputs can be connected per module, and it features removable screw terminal blocks, cULus listing, and the CE mark. By using this new expansion module, machine builders can eliminate the need for an additional power supply, saving both money and wiring time since the PLC inputs can be connected directly to an AC power source.
In addition, 24V DC power All-In-One CPUs are now available for IDEC's MicroSmart PLCs. This new CPU is ideal for self-contained power supply systems, vehicles and marine vessels, since it can be connected to a DC power source. As a result, it is capable of controlling systems powered from solar or wind power. Models are available with 10, 16 or 24 I/O points and Sink/Source DC input and relay outputs. The 24 I/O All-In-One CPU is expandable up to 88 I/O points. There are four types of expansion modules available: AC or DC input modules, output modules with relay or transistor sink/source output, combination input/output modules, and analog modules, including one that can accept type J, K, T thermocouple (or RTD) inputs. All CPUs come with a standard RS232 port and are approved for use in Class1-Div 2 hazardous locations. Optional memory cartridges, real-time clocks and calendar cartridges are available.
The MicroSmart family also includes "slim" type CPU units, available with 20 or 40 I/O points and varying types of output. The slim CPUs accept the same expansion I/O modules and optional accessories as the 24 I/O All-In-One CPUs. Each CPU is equipped with four high-speed counters, an RS-232C port, an analog potentiometer plus several other standard features. The Slim types also include a built-in analog input. All this in an extremely compact housing, only 90mm in height and 70mm in depth.
