AC Drive provides 3-contactor bypass control.

Press Release Summary:

Model P7/Bypass Drive permits motors to be run from either drive or line current. Three electrically-interlocked, IEC-rated contactors isolate drive when operating in bypass mode. Available in ratings from 5-500 hp at 208/230/240/480 Vac, unit provides 110% overload capability. It supports open architecture standards with embedded Modbus serial communication. Drive coordination is simplified with 4-20 mA and 0-10 V inputs and outputs.

Original Press Release:

Yaskawa's New P7/Bypass Drive for Industrial Applications

WAUKEGAN, Il1., Nov. 14, 2003 -- Yaskawa's new P7/Bypass AC drive
provides full 3-contactor bypass control, permitting motors to be run from either the drive or line current in critical fan, pump and industrial applications requiring continuous operation.

The bypass capabilities allow the motor to be operated from either the P7 drive or directly across the line at full speed. This permits drive maintenance while the motor continues to function.

The P7/Bypass drive incorporates its three-contactor bypass arrangement into a UL-listed enclosure. Three electrically-interlocked IEC-rated contactors isolate the drive when operating in bypass mode.

Control logic provides industry-standard "Hand/Off/Auto" functions and safety circuit interlocks in both drive and bypass operating modes. Bypass components include a fused 115 VAC control transformer, an input Motor Circuit Protector (MCP)
circuit breaker/disconnect, motor overload relay, transfer switches and indicator lights, door interlock and door-mounted operator devices.

The Drive provides 110 percent overload capability and is factory-programmed and ready to run. Operational simplicity is provided by an LCD operator display which features five lines of 16 characters and can be set to any of seven languages.

Open Architecture, Connectivity
The P7/Bypass supports open architecture standards with embedded Modbus serial communication and a wide selection of optional interfaces, including DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, Ethernet and other popular industrial protocols. Drive coordination is simplified with 4 to 20 mA and 0-10V inputs and outputs.

The P7/Bypass Drive features an internal PI controller, eliminating the need for closed loop output signals. The PI controller includes feedback inverse, square root, and differential control functions. It maintains setpoint for closed loop control of fans and pumps for pressure or flow regulation.

Designed for tough industrial environments, Yaskawa's P7 AC drive is available in a variety of protective enclosures. It is available in ratings from 5 to 500 HP at 208/230/240/480 VAC. It is globally compatible, conforming to UL, cUL and CE
requirements.
