New Microdrive Extends Allen-Bradley PowerFlex(TM) Family of Drives
Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 4(TM) AC drive provides cost-effective, powerful speed control for motors up to 3.7 kW (5 hp)
MEQUON, Wis., November 14, 2001 - To provide users with powerful motor speed control in a compact, space-saving design, complete automation leader Rockwell Automation announces the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex(TM) 4 AC drive, a new, user-friendly member of the PowerFlex family of drives. Available in power ratings from 0.2 to 3.7 kW (0.25 - 5 hp) and in voltage classes of 115, 230 and 480 volts, the PowerFlex 4 is designed to meet global OEM and end-user demands for flexibility, space savings, and ease of use, providing a cost-effective speed control option for applications such as machine tools, fans, pumps, conveyors and material handling systems.
Ease of installation and use. Ideal for installation in machines and control panels, the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 4 features an integral keypad with a local potentiometer for easy control. This new drive, with its intuitive keypad, contains a group of parameters that enables Quick Start - for fast and easy start up. The PowerFlex 4 also is designed with simple access to terminal blocks for ease of wiring.
For ease in programming and monitoring, the new drive features integral RS485 communications, making it compatible with Allen-Bradley DriveExplorer and DriveExecutive(TM) software when using a serial converter module.
Flexible, space-saving size. The PowerFlex 4 cost-effective design was created without sacrificing flexibility. This innovative microdrive is available in an IP20 compact package style that can be either DIN rail or panel mounted. An optional IP30/NEMA 1 kit provides added application flexibility. The compact PowerFlex 4 also allows Zero Stacking(TM), which allows the drive to be mounted side by side, saving valuable panel space. An integral filter version is available for single phase 230V designs further reducing the drive's footprint when complying with EMC requirements. Last but not least, the PowerFlex 4 is also available in a plate drive or chassis mount configuration, which can further reduce control panel size and cost.
Worldwide compatibility. Like all products within the PowerFlex family of drives, the PowerFlex 4 is designed to meet worldwide power ratings, packaging requirements and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) criteria. PowerFlex 4 drives are CSA/cUL Certified, UL-Listed, and C-Tick and CE-Marked. In addition, they are designed to meet EMC (EN61800-3) and Low-Voltage (EN60204-1 and EN50178) directives.
Flexible Packaging Options. The PowerFlex 4 Configured Drives Program further simplifies installation and start up by allowing users to order drive packages that combine operator interface, control and power options to meet their specifications. Offering a number of commonly requested options, as well as more complex custom-engineered packages, configured PowerFlex 4 drives give users application-specific solutions to meet motor control needs around the world.
