AC/DC Power Supplies measure 3.0 x 1.4 x 1.1 in.

Press Release Summary:

With power density of 5.7 W/cubic in. and peak load ability that offers 130% of rated output power for maximum of 30 sec, ECL25 25 W series has 21 single output models across 3 formats providing output voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 24, or 48 Vdc. Suited for applications where high peak output is needed for short periods, they operate at full power from -20 to +50°C, and derate linearly to 50% output at +70°C. Featuring Class II input, units have input to output isolation rated at 3,000 Vac.

Original Press Release:

Ultra Compact 25 W AC/DC Power Supply Fits into 3 x 1.4''

Date: July 2008

XP Power announces the availability of its ECL25 series of single output, ultra compact, low power AC/DC power supplies. Extending the current ECL product line-up of 10 W and 15 W units, the new 25 W output family is available in chassis, PCB or encapsulated PCB mount formats. Starting at only 3.0 x 1.4 x 1.1 inches (76.2 x 35.6 x 26.7 mm) for the pcb mount version, the units suit low power, low cost applications where board or chassis space is limited. With a power density of 5.7 W per cubic inch, the supplies are believed to offer the highest power density and be the smallest of any similar 25 - 30 W products on the market.

The ECL25 series consists of 21 single output models across the three formats providing output voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 24 or 48 VDC. The 48 VDC unit is rated at 82% power efficiency. No additional heat sinking or forced airflow is required, making the supplies ideal for most operating environments. They operate at full power from -20 to +50 degrees C and derate linearly to 50% output at +70 degrees C. For applications where a higher peak output is required for short periods the ECL25 series is ideal. All models have a peak load capability that can provide 130% of rated output power for a maximum of 30 seconds. Designers need not specify a more expensive, higher wattage power supply just to accommodate short peak load conditions.

The series has a Class II input, meaning that no grounding is required. This suits portable equipment designs where a reliable ground source is not always available. Input to output isolation is rated at 3,000 VAC. External filtering components are not required since the power supplies already meet EN55022, level B for conducted and radiated EMC. All models carry EN, UL, CSA and CE safety approvals.

The ECL25 is priced at $27.30 each for OEM quantities, carries a 3 year warranty and is available now from stock and also through Newark.
