XP Power Releases Green Mode Low-Cost Chassis Mount Industrial Power Supplies

XP Power today announced the VCS series of chassis mount single output AC-DC power supplies aimed at cost sensitive industrial applications. Extending the line-up of XP Power's V-Brand range of low cost power supplies, these units suit applications that require an enclosed power supply with screw terminals.

The series comprises 50 W, 70 W and 100 W models and are available with +5, +12, +15, +24 or +48 VDC outputs. A user accessible voltage trim control provides a +/- 10% adjustment of the output voltage allowing for the use of non-standard voltages or to compensate for cable losses. These highly efficient convection cooled units require no additional heat sinking or forced airflow saving space and additional costs. Also, having a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5 W the VCS family helps designers ensure their products comply with internationally recognised energy efficiency initiatives.

Unlike some competitor products, the VCS series accommodates the full universal input range from 90 - 264 VAC without derating, ideal if the end application is to be used worldwide.

The VCS series can provide full output power from -10 degrees C to +50 degrees C without derating, and with derating to +70 degrees C. Start-up is from -20 degrees C.

The range meets the UL60950-1 / EN60950-1 safety specifications for IT, commercial and industrial equipment. In addition, the units comply with EN550022 level B standard for both conducted and radiated emissions without the need for additional filtering components.

Overvoltage, overload and short-circuit protection features are included as standard across the whole range.

The VCS is priced from $14.25 for the 50 W VCS50 model to $21.75 for the 100 W VCS100 in 500 unit quantities. They are available from Newark or direct from XP Power.
