Industry Leading Mobile Computing Protection for Computer Theft Recovery, Data Protection and Secure Asset Tracking(TM) Now Available in Europe

Absolute® Software Corporation ("Absolute") (TSX: ABT), the leading provider of patented, firmware-based, Computer Theft Recovery, Data Protection and Secure Asset Tracking(TM) solutions, today announced the release of its ComputraceOne security solution for the EMEA market.

"Computrace® One(TM) provides an effective and efficient solution for organisations to combat loss and theft of mobile computing assets, and to protect the data thereon from falling into the wrong hands," commented John Livingston, CEO of Absolute Software.

"Every day, we recover stolen computers and delete compromised data worldwide for our customers," added Rob Chase, CFO and Managing Director of Absolute Software EMEA Limited. "One of our U.S. customers recently experienced the value of this protection when a laptop containing confidential data was stolen in Russia. Within 24 hours we had deleted all of their confidential data from the hard drive, and within 48 hours we led police to the thief and laptop. In cases like this, we have been able to spare our customers some of the consequences of such losses, which can include embarrassing media coverage and fines among others. In the U.K. a building society was recently fined (pnds stlg)980,000 as a result of just one stolen laptop, so the fines can be significant."

Over the past ten years, Absolute has proven its theft recovery capabilities and recovered more than 1,000 stolen computers in 2006 alone.

The process works as follows: When a ComputraceOne equipped computer is reported stolen, the ComputraceOne agent sends a silent signal to Absolute's Monitoring Centre, providing critical location information. To ensure a signal is received, the stealthy ComputraceOne agent has been designed to survive accidental or deliberate attempts to remove or disable it. Using the data collected from the agent, Absolute's Recovery Team recovered more than 1,000 stolen laptops in 2006 by working with local law enforcement in attempt to recover the computer and return it to its owner.
The ComputraceOne agent can also be instructed to delete the data post- theft to protect valuable information from getting into the wrong hands.
Data Delete can also be used to safely wipe sensitive information when retiring machines at the end of their lifecycle or when changing users.

Mr. Chase continued, "We are excited to launch our ComputraceOne computer theft and mobile data protection service in Europe to help address these concerns. Six of the world's largest computer manufacturers have also realised the importance of this solution and now ship with embedded support for ComputraceOne in the BIOS of their laptops - so all you have to do is turn it on by buying a subscription and activating the service."
