Absolute Encoders offer resolutions of 1 part in 500,000.

Press Release Summary:

Multi-Turn, Tracking Absolute Encoders provide choice of 10, 64, or 100 turns for full count. They convert any shaft input to 5- or 6-digit BCD, or 19 bits of binary information corresponding directly to shaft angle, with accuracy of up to ±1 part in 100,000. Output data is continuously available and accurate up to input rates of 10,000 deg/sec. Data outputs are TTL compatible, and converter busy and inhibit lines are provided for interfacing to computer.

Original Press Release:

New Rugged Multi-Turn Tracking Absolute Encoders

A series of rugged, Hi-accuracy, multi-turn, tracking absolute encoders with resolutions of up to 1 part in 500,000 and choice of 10, 64 or 100 turns for full count has been introduced by CCC. These new units will convert any shaft input to 5 or 6 digit BCD, or 19 bits of binary information corresponding directly to the shaft angle, with an accuracy of up to ±1 part in 100,000. The output data is always fresh, continuously available, and accurate up to input rates of 10,000 degrees/second. In addition, 4, 5, or 6 digit .5" H LED displays of that angle are available.

Since the shaft transducers used are highly reliable resolvers, the DIGI-SHAFT system is free from deficiencies such as limited life brushes, light sources, brush noise, ambiguities and limited resolution usually associated with conventional optical or mechanical encoders. The zero point can be reset to any value via an available offset adjustment and any output scale factor desired can be provided (i.e., lbs., feet, meters, etc.). Simple cable runs of up to 1000 feet between the transducers and electronics package can be used.

In addition, unique circuitry insures clean, repeatable, and unambiguous crossovers throughout the entire range of each encoder in this series. Data outputs are TTL compatible and converter busy and inhibit lines are provided for simple interfacing to a computer.

Units are provided with standard size 23 transducers. However, transducers in ruggedized NEMA 12 and water-proof housings are available. The electronics package is supplied for rack or panel mounting. DC power of ±15 and 5V DC is required if the internal power supply option is not chosen. Operating temperature range of 0 to 70°C, or -55°C to +85°C is standard.

Pricing for P/N: TMDS90-DB-16-1 is less than $995.00/axis in 100 piece quantities. Delivery: 6 weeks A.R.O.
